Bon Air Kitchen

About This Project

Bon Air is a beautiful area with a mix of traditional colonial, mid-late urban sprawl, and ornate Victorian filigree. It is one of the more mature areas of Chesterfield County while also maintaining and “eclectic” appeal to younger and growing families.

This project was a typical kitchen renovation. The cabinets and countertops were dated, the lighting was uninviting and cold, and the color scheme did not encourage the space to be used.

To warm up the area, the eat-in kitchen was conjoined to a warmer living space by the removal of a wall. This allowed for lengthened sightlines as well as natural light through a set of pre-existing windows.

The kitchen peninsula was rotated and turned into an island to open the flow from the working area into the communal area. Lighting was dropped from the ceiling and warmed to create a more inviting atmosphere.
